A Week of Tragedies
Overview
The catastrophic fires in an around Los Angeles, CA over the past week have yet to be totally extinguished. With 3 or 4 major fires burning thousands of acres of land, destroying homes and tragically claiming lives. A look at the relevant astrology can only help to understand the scope of the disasters. The major T-square configuration active on that day, Mars retro in Cancer opposition to Pluto in Aquarius was doubly separating on January 7th, when the fires began. The conditions of the land, a severe drought, and hurricane force winds are the elements of nature that existed. The opposition aspect of Mars retro to Pluto was ignited by the Moon’s transit of Aries at the start of the fires. Astrocartography astrologer Helena relates the events to the chart for Los Angeles. As the fires continued to burn, the largest fire, the Palisades fire less than 20% contained, as of this moment. The scope of the event covers up to 2 weeks, with the effects lasting over several years into the future. Certainly, this is in the auspices of Pluto, for the catastrophic event and long-term consequences. A deeper look at the event chart, with Neptune in Pisces trine aspect to Mars helps to fan the flames, Mercury quincunx aspect to Mars and Saturn sesquiquadrate aspect to Mars further energizes that fiery Mars in Cancer, the sign of home and the emotional base. At the Full Moon on January 13th at 15:28 PST, the Moon conjunction aspect with Mars retro, activating the Mars-Pluto opposition aspect. This event clearly “hits home” as far as the need to prepare for an era of climate insecurity. In this era of climate change with Pluto in Aquarius, the race for scientific applications to prevent such disasters is clearly a major concern for the future.
