Modifying Conflict — September 15-22 2021

Overview

The retrograde planets this week are in a locomotive lineup from Capricorn through Gemini. The Moon transits the group beginning with Pluto in Capricorn retro late on Tuesday or early morning Wednesday in Europe and Asia. A tug-of-war develops between the luminaries and Venus in Scorpio opposition to Uranus in Taurus. The Moon in Capricorn ingress to Aquarius and a conjunction aspect with Saturn, as wealthy political and environmental activists vie for attention. The threat of the continuing pandemic deepens. The Full Moon on Monday brings a culmination, with Mars in Libra ingress on the 15th, the race for domination in space and technology revs up.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday September 15th — The Moon in Capricorn is trine aspect to Uranus in Taurus early today. More aggressive speech from leaders concerning laws and vaccine mandates. The failure of the recall effort in California contributes to the increased power of authority to address the health and security issues represented by Uranus in TaurusMars ingress to Libra increases the will to find a balance of power, to compromise on the issues that are vital, as the Moon in a square aspect to Mercury in Libra might particularize, and make more obvious the choices that confront us daily.  The Moon trine aspect to the Sun and a conjunction aspect to Pluto overnight shows that a consensus is possible and progress is made in working out details.

Thursday September 16th — The Moon’s ingress to Aquarius before noon US time zones, afternoon in the eastern hemisphere, meets with the trine aspect to Mars in Libra, while the Sun in Virgo in a trine aspect to Pluto in Cap, also quincunx aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius. The combination of the aspects indicates a focused effort to implement available methods to combat the surge of the virus, and calm the outbreak of discordant energies. The SunJupiter quincunx aspect follows with Venus in Scorpio applying to a square aspect with Saturn retro in Aquarius. Rejection is hard to take. Relations are difficult when each individual has a personal version of the future.

Friday September 17th — The SunPluto trine aspect continues with a universal appeal, while Venus supersedes the square aspect to Saturn retro, a doubly separating aspect. Differing views may divide friendships, as we work to overcome biases. The Moon trine Mercury aspect prompts more discussions, as greater equality in social integration is promoted. While the Jupiter retro quincunx aspect to the Sun and semisextile aspect to Pluto may diminish involvement, the Moon approaches the conjunction aspect with Jupiter in Aquarius overnight, seeming to re-charge the configuration. Demonstrations and conflicts regarding racial injustices could be an example of this, as working out community affairs with educational institutions and the imposed mandates for vaccines and masks cause friction.

Saturday September 18th — The Moon in Aquarius makes a quincunx aspect to the Sun, past the gibbous phase, as justification for decisions taken at the New Moon (Sept 7), with adjustments made in realizing the impact of this cycle that began on September 7th, and the academic year.  Mercury in Libra and in a quincunx aspect to Neptune in Pisces, sets the tone for a reconciliation. The Moon ingress to Pisces with a quincunx aspect to Mars in Libra, as discordant opinions take an aggressive turn.  Several hours later, the Moon is in a trine aspect to Venus in Scorpio, involving a lunar semi-sextile aspect to Saturn in Aquarius also, as harmony is restored.

Sunday September 19th — The Moon in Pisces is trine aspect to Venus in Scorpio early today, for a pleasant mood for the morning hours, afternoon in the eastern hemisphere. Yet, emotions may remain strong, attached to personal beliefs and a sense of martyrdom. Mercury in Libra and Jupiter in Aquarius doubly approach a trine aspect in air signs, as the intellectual argument seems to resolve in consensus. Ceres in Gemini approaches the quincunx aspect to Venus in Scorpio, with concern for children’s wellbeing.

Full Moon in Pisces
September 20, 2021

Monday September 20th — The full Moon is visible at sunset in the eastern US, although afternoon hours on the west coast [see image] The Sun in Virgo is semisquare aspect to Venus in Scorpio as the Moon approaches the opposition aspect to the Sun. Some folks may feel that their traditional values are compromised. Mercury in Libra is trine aspect to Jupiter retro in Aquarius, perhaps calming the radical elements, as they see their interests becoming more defensible in legal terms (Mercury in Libra).  Venus is quincunx aspect to Chiron in Aries and quincunx to Ceres in Gemini for a Yod formation. The adjustments made in the educational systems reflect the more inclusive values of a new era. Mercury in a square aspect to Pluto retro in Cap challenges the status quo. The Moon ingress to Aries as new directions are taken.

Tuesday September 21st — The Moon in Aries is in an opposition aspect to Mars in Libra, a possible reaction as more balance is needed. Mercury in Libra in a trine aspect to Jupiter retro in Aquarius with a sense that celebrations seem on course. Mercury continues in the square aspect to Pluto retro in Cap, as more icons of the past are destroyed, and the social environment is remolded. Venus in Scorpio approaches the opposition aspect to Uranus retro in Taurus, as healing process is also imperative when outmoded values are rejected. There is also a struggle to accept a new social contract.

Full Moon at the Equinox — September 22-29 2021

Overview

The Sun ingress to Libra as the full Moon phase begins to wane, the events and goals of the developing soli-lunar cycle reach a culmination. If personal plans are going well, this is a time of fulfillment — when goals are at a successful stage of implementation.  The Moon in Aries opposition to Mercury, as Mercury slows the apparent motion in the cycle, preparing to turn retrograde on the 28th of September. For this week in the shadow of the lunar phase, a position that will be transited another two times in the next weeks, current matters could be brought into examination or possible reversal in the coming days. Decisions will need to be reviewed, so being flexible is the best stance to take. The disseminating phase of the cycle begins on Friday, with the Moon passing the conjunction aspect with Uranus retro and opposition aspect to Venus in Scorpio. Friendship and co-operation are important for the successful process.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Fall Equinox

Wednesday September 22ndSun ingress Libra where harmony is sought, although we often find discord. With a desire for a balanced outcome, powerful enemies are encountered. Searching for stasis, the imbalance increases, producing discordant results.  The Moon in Aries activates a goal direction.   With the opposition aspect to transiting Mercury in Libra, an understanding may be reached. Goals may be achieved. Scorpio may react to rejection, persistency is essential for overcoming the deniers. Mercury trine aspect to Jupiter separates as Mercury approaches the square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. This equinox phase with the Sun in Libra presents a challenge. The status quo may no longer be the same. Leadership roles are sometimes reversed with Venus in opposition aspect to Uranus retro in Gemini

Thursday September 23rd — The Moon ingress to Taurus making a favorable trine aspect to the Sun involving earth signs. Enjoyment in serving, such as work to repair the earth. Mars in Libra approaches the trine aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, mobilizing through air signs, communicating ideals. Venus supersedes the opposition aspect to Uranus, as reversals are reaching a conclusion. Haitian refugees are retuned in a dramatic airlift, revering their appeal for refugee status in the US.

Practical Virgo vs Pisces Dissolution — September 8-15 2021

Overview

The air and earth emphasis and with possible grand trine configurations forming this week, clean-up and repair issues are in the forefront as we race toward the autumnal equinox. Mars tine Pluto is separating, thus weaker in influence, as we are tested to “build back better.“  Pluto in Capricorn retro, disposed of by Saturn in Aquarius retro could demand perfection and also be rather stingy. The powerful entities governing large masses of people, in the process of a reset, and re-distribution of resources.  It is a struggle of practical verses idealistic measures that adhere to like-minded group pressures.  Neptune in Pisces is the only planet in a water sign until the Moon ingress to Scorpio on Friday, September 10th.  Venus in ingress to Scorpio on Saturday could tempt us to indulge. The Moon in Sagittarius on Sunday and Monday could indicate legislative victories with the sextile aspect from the Moon to Mercury also sextile to the midpoint of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius.  Compromises can be reached.  Mars ingress to Libra on Tuesday and the Sun trine aspect to Pluto also indicate accommodation and compromise.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday September 8th The Moon in Libra is trine aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, by mid-day in the US, evening in the eastern hemisphere, sees justification in upsetting proposals for the sake of disunity. However, as Mars’ trine aspect to Pluto and quincunx aspect to Jupiter wane, less power to push an alternative version remains. The Moon transit of Mercury in Libra late in the day (overnight in the eastern hemisphere) indicates a changed position, with Uranus in a quincunx aspect to the MercuryMoon transit, as more crises are incubating. A grandtrine configuration with Ceres in Gemini allows for a resolution in theory.

Thursday September 9th — The Moon is quincunx aspect to Neptune, a square aspect to Pluto and trine aspect to Jupiter, as new alliances are formed. Operating from a will to implement reform and proceed with repairs, the Sun and Mars in Virgo, disposed of by Mercury, push forward toward a necessary goal.

Friday September 10th — The Moon ingress to Scorpio followed by Venus in mid-day, add the emotional quality, injecting urgency with the alternative of despair. The Moon square aspect to Saturn could awaken animosity. Intense discourse can be expected.  The Moon opposition aspect to Uranus retro in Taurus overnight occurs on Saturday morning in the eastern hemisphere nations, when the probability of aggressive actions increases. Explosive issues are touched off.

Saturday September 11th — With the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on US soil, some unity can be expected, with the Moon in Scorpio sextile aspect to the Sun in Virgo. The Sun is approaching the opposition aspect to Neptune in Pisces, with grief that does not diminish with time. The Moon then progresses to the trine aspect to Neptune in Pisces later in the day. Shared grief in a unifying factor. The Moon in a square aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius follows with the ceremonies that evoke powerful feelings.

Sunday September 12th — The Moon ingress to Sadge early today, with a conjunction aspect to Rahu. Losses are felt strongly, those of current disasters or those that remain in emotional context. Radical impulses are generated. The Moon is a singleton in fire, with only Chiron in Aries to add to the justification for radical speech or actions.   The Moon in a sextile aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, could limit the extent of radical actions, although group responses could also be unified by the inflammatory speech.

T-square configuration
September 13, 2021

Monday September 13th — The Moon in Sadge makes a T-square configuration with the Moon and Sun in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces in an opposition aspect. Radical impulses seek justification. The Sabian symbol for 21 Sagittarius includes the usefulness of make-believe, rising to the situation through the imagination.  Pageantry is a useful form of artistic expression.  The Sabian symbol for 2 deg Pisces, indicates a new order with success in meeting the challenges and codifying new values. The Sabian symbol for 21 Virgo, depicts two teams of girls playing basketball, interpreted as physical wholeness precluding inner integration. Self-evaluation or the refusal to face self. The three symbols inter-relating to a new order, an active order that includes self-evaluation or introspection.

Tuesday September 14th —  The Moon ingress to Capricorn follows the personal integration into the new order. Personal responsibility is taken to achieve goals. Mars ingress to Libra by mid-day, as group harmony is promoted, although the square aspect to the Moon in Cap could indicate personal rejection of the planned order. A sextile aspect to Venus in Scorpio promises sharing of resources.

New Moon Crisis — September 1-8 2021

As the world of humanity struggles to survive the plagues of Coronavirus, climate change and Islamic extremism, astrologers might expect this to be reflected in the relationship of the planets that orbit the Sun, our sibling planets, to our struggles on earth. We point to Saturn as the task maker, known to place limits on growth, restrict abundance and depress enthusiasm.  Saturn is the harvester, and what you sow, so shall you reap.  While Saturn, with an orbit of 29 and half years, and spends months retrograde, the trans-saturnian planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, also Eris, in orbit beyond Pluto, are even slower moving and have lengthy retrograde phases. This week, Mars in Virgo makes the opposition aspect to Neptune retro in Pisces. They are said to be doubly approaching the opposition aspect, in orbit moving toward the opposition partile aspect, giving the occasion a heightened significance, as attempts to eradicate the disease of Covid intensifies.  Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Eris are currently all retrograde in apparent motion, moving in the reverse direction. It is déjà vu, or our self-undoing, a time for introspection.  Maybe we can repair past mistakes, review past judgments, but over-all, what’s done is done. Covid causes death, storms wreck havoc and the Taliban oppresses. Uranus is stationary retro and at 14 deg Taurus for all of September. The Moon and Sun will aspect Uranus this week at the New Moon on Monday.

Summary of major aspects of the week

Wednesday September 1st — The Moon in its home sign of Cancer is square aspect to Mercury in Libra early today. Mercury in Libra can see both sides of an argument. Mars in Virgo is in an opposition aspect to Neptune in Pisces retro, a goal to disengage, to divest or eradicate also seems to allow for flood waters (Neptune in Pisces) to overflow the earth (Mars in Pisces).  Climate change collides with war in Afghanistan and covid-19 collides with climate change in Louisiana and Mississippi. The impact of the Coronavirus is massive, virtually imposing change on all inhabitants of the nations on earth. The US withdrawal from Afghanistan affects large populations, not only in Afghanistan but also the military members and family in the US and allied nations. So, the impact of the outer trans-Saturnian planets is aligned with these events.  Pluto in Capricorn is in a partile square aspect with Eris in Aries this week. Attributes of Eris in Aries include radical speech, leading the charge against perceived injustice. The goal direction of Aries is concentrated with Eris, with a bold initiative for a radical change toward idealistic goals.

Thursday September 2ndMars in Virgo is disposed of by Mercury, and in an opposition aspect to Neptune in Pisces. Mercury in Libra seeks balance. Thus, Mars is seeking to bring order out of chaos. Mars has a goal that is based on rationality (Mercury the dispositor), while Neptune dissolves matters into irrationality. Lone wolf events may become common with this aspect, as individuals seek to make an impact, with idealistic or irrational alliances. The Moon in Cancer makes a sextile aspect to Uranus in Taurus early today (US times) afternoon in the eastern hemisphere. Efforts to implement change into daily routine are successful. The Moon in a square aspect to Venus in Libra a few hours later could show the desired results.  The Moon in a sextile aspect to Mars could show a favorable change of direction of radical elements, while a trine aspect to Neptune releasing some of the animosity felt by the subjects, and showing willingness to adapt.  The Moon in an opposition aspect to Pluto in Cap overnight in US time zones and morning in the eastern hemisphere can draw out some of the disease in attempts to tame the pandemic. A quincunx aspect to Jupiter in Aqu follows, as some problematic human rights issues remain.

Friday September 3rdMars in Virgo supersedes the opposition aspect to Neptune in Pisces and approaches the trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn and a quincunx aspect to Eris in Aries.  Efforts for a universal compliance with health issues gain power. The Sun in Virgo makes a quincunx aspect to Chiron retro in Aries, and could produce arguments, with some persuasion being successful. Creative approaches can produce results.  The Moon ingress to Leo makes an opposition aspect to Saturn in Aqu rejecting medical advice, while Ceres trine aspect to Saturn finds more acceptance of medical science in the younger generations, leading to a higher incidence of personal protection.

Saturday September 4thMars in Virgo approaches the trine aspect to Pluto retro in Capricorn, as more compliance seems expedient for universal health. Mercury in Libra is trine aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, convincing more hold-outs, or reaching those in remote areas. The Covid illness caused by the coronavirus becomes more severe as the virus regenerates (Pluto) into variants with increased potential for morbidity (Mars in Virgo).  The Moon in a trine aspect to Chiron as inner wisdom is influenced or influences others as more people express their views. Venus in Libra (it’s sign of rulership) is quincunx aspect to Neptune in Pisces and square aspect to Pluto while in opposition aspect to Eris. Flood water recede, but damage remains.

Sunday September 5th — The Moon in Leo, Mars in Virgo and Venus in Libra strongly impact Pluto retro in Capricorn while Eris remains in the square aspect to Pluto. The Moon in Leo moves to the opposition aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, challenging the scientific research, as debates about the effectiveness of a medical solution continue. A fear of government control over personal choice remains high on the list of reasons for anti-vaxxers. Mercury in Libra in a trine aspect to Ceres in Gemini indicates that rational approaches may reach more hold-outs. Ceres is a symbol of natural healing, although medical technologies are also respected. The Moon ingress to Virgo as the illnesses increase.

Monday September 6th — The Sun in a Virgo is trine aspect to Uranus retro in Taurus, and the Moon in Virgo is in a square aspect to Ceres in Gemini early today. The spread of disease becomes rampant in several hot-spots globally. More advanced treatment methods could be saving lives. Mars in Virgo supersedes the trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn as a peak in morbidity is reached. Venus in Libra a trine aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius, indicates that social benefits provide relief. The Moon in a quincunx aspect to Saturn in Aquarius while Mars in Virgo is quincunx aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius. Tough love, along with statistical evidence can increase the rate of vaccinations. The emotional aspect as well as the social cohesion to like-minded groups implicates the rate for getting the vaccine. While the vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing the infections, if more people in a social group are vaccinated the transmission rate is lowered significantly and can eliminate the spread of the disease with a herd immunity. The New Moon in Virgo late in the day in the western hemisphere, early morning in the eastern half of the globe, is trine aspect to Uranus in Taurus. If taken seriously, the science can dramatically reduce the spread. If not, the increased infection rate is more likely, and with Mars trine aspect to Pluto, increased morbidity with new variants can be anticipated.  It is a watershed moment, as though we stand on a precipice. Humanity must choose to overcome the plague, climate change and radical anti-democratic and oppressive regimes.

New Moon in Virgo
September 6-7, 2021

Tuesday September 7th — As the Moon in Virgo transits from the New Moon with renewed purpose, the opposition aspect to Neptune challenges the will to overcome obsessive behaviors. A trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn and a conjunction aspect to Mars in Virgo activate introspection. The will power to overcome obsessive thinking depends on the support of a well-planned initiative to transform personal choice, as the seed moment for the new cycle passes. While escapism could seem desirable, finding footing in a new direction is the more fulfilling option. The Moon conjunction aspect  with Mars is trine to Pluto in Capricorn, and could coincide with an increase in political activism.
