Pre-Equinox Struggles  – Week of March 14-20 2018

The New Moon on Saturday 17th in the 3rd decant (10 deg of a sign) of Pisces marks preparations for the coming cycle with the equinox on the 21st of March. Venus and Mercury travel together in Aries, conjunct again at the equinox as Mercury slows to a retrograde turn on March 23rd. The third decant of Pisces has the significance of resolving outstanding issues in preparation for the new initiatives. This may include relationship issues as reaffirming commitments could take a central place in conscious action.  Mars in a trine aspect (120 deg, ease of relating) to Uranus in Aries, and the dispositor of Uranus, increases the possibility that violence and accidental actions (aviation, electronic and the stock market could be affected). The window of opportunity for this aspect is increased with Mars and Saturn combining at the midpoint aspect from the Moon.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday March 14th – With conflicts of the past week settling into consciousness, the Sun is trine (120 deg, easy) to Jupiter retrograde today.  The Moon in Aquarius prompts us to take a detached view of gain and loss in the complex array of social and political moves in the spotlight. Making an assessment of where we stand with regard to personal status or achieving a national ideological goal, there is comfort in a measure of success. This can be highlighted to advantage now.  Mars in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Chiron challenges our basic drives to achieve status and philosophical or political goals. The Moon is in a square aspect to Jupiter (collective consciousness) in the afternoon as ideals are applied to social concerns.

Thursday March 15th – The Moon enters Pisces today, the sign of universal empathy, as the separateness of humanity dissolves and we become one.  The three planets in Aries (Venus, Mercury and Uranus) are disposed of by Mars in Sagittarius. Radical, unconventional actions by individuals threaten peace. By the end of the day, the Moon transits in a conjunction with Neptune. Tragedy serves as a vehicle for greater unity. We are but of one breath and one spirit.

Friday March 16thVenus and Mercury in Aries indicate efforts to modify the power conflicts, rationalizing and motivating the power that becomes solidified, as Mars moves into Capricorn. Intellectualizing the moves of the world’s powerful figures, as the nations are increasingly ruled by power and wealth in the hands of a minority, does little to slow their grasp.  The New Moon in Pisces, challenges us to reform, as voices of experience ring out in protest. The approaching equinox divides the year and initiates the spring season. The Moon in trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Jupiter evokes the pathos of the era as we move into more structured centralized authority.

New Moon in Pisces

Saturday March 17th – The New Moon in Pisces, the domicile of Neptune, and Neptune the Universal Solvent in Pisces further gives this approaching lunar month an aura of profound dissolution. The institutions that will be preserved, and those that will perish, are now under stress to meet the challenges of the new era. The Moon is in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Ceres indicating concern for agricultural rights and the rights of the family. The wave of actions for ending the abusive treatment of women is a hopeful sign for equality in the new age to emerge. As Mars enters Capricorn and Uranus nears the end of its sojourn in Aries, more practicality in innovation might evolve. The earth signs of Capricorn and Taurus could help to remove violence and threats and replace them with quality of conduct.

Sunday March 18th – The Moon ingress to Aries is in a square aspect (90 deg, conflict) to Mars in Capricorn. The actions of democratic nations that support the advancement human rights, and are also deporting undocumented immigrants subjecting them to abuse, separating families, violate the very human rights that they proclaim. It should be remembered that the UN Declaration of Human Rights stands in contradiction to the actions that violate the rights of individuals to seek freedom and security. These same values that are enshrined by the founders of the democratic nations are being pushed aside.  This tragic contradiction needs to be addressed as we approach an age of either more suppression and control or more equity of distribution of goods and services. More wealth and power for a few or greater individual self-determination.  Individuals seeking justice in the existing climate obtain establishment support (Mars in Capricorn) even as they are subject to institutionalized discrimination (Moon square aspect to Mars). The Moon joins with Venus and Mercury in Aries championing individual rights against the collective power (Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn).

Monday March 19th – The Moon in Aries forms a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Pluto in Capricorn today. There is open conflict, protest against power and the abuse of power. The Moon then moves to a quincunx aspect to Jupiter retrograde in Scorpio, as human values such as the universal rights of individuals that have become integrated (Jupiter) in our cultural values (Scorpio) can be used creatively (quincunx) to advance (Aries) individual issues and legal rights (Jupiter the ruler of Sagittarius). The efforts to eliminate gender bias in employment as well as in public statements by influential people continue.  A legal avenue for international human rights violation and prosecution could also be opened now, as the Moon moves on to a conjunction with Uranus

Tuesday March 20th – With the Moon now transiting Taurus, the earth sign of personal security and value, there could now be efforts to address actions that violate humanitarian values as the Moon relates with a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Mars in Capricorn.  Financial abuse is exposed as the Moon moves from the trine aspect to Mars toward a trine aspect with Saturn. A conflict between individual rights and standard procedures exposes the abusive use of power. The Sun in the final degree of Pisces relinquishes the final hold of the crumbling institutions of power as the limitations and rights are conflicting (MarsSaturn conflict).  Mercury and Venus in Aries further individual rights self-promotion as Venus transcends Mercury hours before the vernal equinox, or in the southern hemisphere the fall equinox.
