Power and Awareness Shift at Aries New Moon – Week of April 11-18 2018

Venus plays an important power role this week. Venus in Taurus is in one of its signs of rulership (Venus also is the ruler of Libra), and will aspect Mars, Pluto and Jupiter this week. Following the aspects, the Moon passes over, polishing Venus’ shine. The Sun, meanwhile moves to conjunction (close position in a sign) with Uranus, possibly setting off a power struggle for leadership, and perhaps the trade war concept takes shape. Chiron ingress to Aries occurs for a more open display of guidance from the wounded and the wise judge and healer.  After the 15th of April, Mercury turns direct in Aries as the planet of communication moves toward a square aspect with Saturn in Capricorn. At this point as I write, the news of a chemical attack on civilians in Syria takes our attention. The chemical attack took place over night of April 7th as the transiting Moon triggered Mars in Capricorn, a war crime and a humanitarian disaster ensued.  A response from an as yet unidentified military attacked the Syrian Air Base when the transiting Moon was in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Uranus in Aries. The New Moon in Aries is on April 16th when in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, powerful) with Uranus.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday April 11th – With Venus now in an easy aspect to Mars, the influential ability of human interaction improves. As the Moon in Aquarius is sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to Uranus, inspiration to action whether advised or not, could be impulsive. The Sun in a quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Jupiter adds a compulsive element to actions taken now. The Sun is in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Pluto while Jupiter is sextile to the planet of under-worldly power (Pluto). This could unleash a major power struggle, with war-like overtones. With 6 planets in the cardinal signs of Aries and Capricorn, a power struggle is implicit. Syrian president Assad has violated international law with the use of chemical warfare, similar to what Saddam Husain was known to have done. This gives a legal basis for the international community to intervene. Developments on the ground could trigger retaliation now. A war of words or action is a high probability.

Thursday April 12th – While Venus moves past the trine aspect (120 deg, easy) with Mars, both Mars and Venus are in a sextile (60 deg, helpful) arrangement with Neptune. Thus a collaborative move involves levels and layers of complications. The international community is drawn together to seek a strategy to cope with a humanitarian crisis. The danger is that any decision could be bogged down with complicated issues that prevent a meaningful response.  The Moon in Pisces is in a sextile relationship to Saturn in Sagittarius for the early part of the day, a working relationship, that may be dissolved before in is enacted as there is then the lunar transit of Neptune in Pisces. The lunar sextile aspect to Venus and trine aspect to Jupiter may reap better results for a committed resolution.  This seems to follow the pattern of a compromise solution that fails, followed by committed action on the part of major powers as the Moon is sextile aspect to Pluto and could trigger an awesome response, as the Moon trine aspect to Jupiter gains strength.

Friday April 13th – The Moon in Pisces is in a semisextile aspect (30 deg, mildly activating) to the Sun and Uranus in Aries. While this influence passes quickly, it could trigger action. Mars in Capricorn in a sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to Neptune, and although inclined to show military strength action may yet be delayed due to erosion (Neptune) of support. Conflicting interests are at work. The Moon transits Chiron later in the day, eliciting a reasoned if not rational response. The Moon ingress to Aries late in the day could then be a start of action that has been delayed. Overpowering irrational fears (Mars sextile aspect to Neptune) with the Moon in war-like Aries, action becomes more likely, as Mercury retrograde (reverse reasoned response) is triggered as well by the transit.

Saturday April 14th – The Moon in Aries transits Mercury retrograde early in the day, and then forms a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Ceres in Leo for a lasting impression. This could highlight the plight of children in conflict zones and victims of deportation orders. Deportations are not likely to be rescinded, and wars will not cease without a victory or defeat. Yet, children are victimized. The Moon continues to a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) with Saturn in Capricorn, could represent a standard that is imposed on innovation or aggressive moves. The Moon is a symbol of reception, in Aries the overriding circumstances may be further depressed or nullified, even as attempts to speak out and tell the history are made. The Moon travels on to a square aspect with Mars, the dispositor of the Moon (Mars rules Aries the sign the Moon is currently visible), just days before the New Moon in Aries. The crisis that was on the 8th of April is now evaluated for creation of a future resolution. This is the seeding moment of the new lunation cycle, as the potential for the coming month becomes formulated.

April 15-16 2018
New Moon in Aries

Sunday April 15th – The square aspect (90 deg, harsh) from the Moon to Pluto and quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Jupiter prompts greater depth of evaluation with a compulsion to reform as the Moon next transits Uranus.  The New Moon in Aries combines the Uranus (revolution) aspect so that more revelations, anticipated firing of opponents in legal battles, as well as assassinations or resignations could be announced as Mercury returns to a direct apparent motion and the Moon transits to Taurus, the fixed earth sign of physical satisfaction. A transformation is underway that requires acceptance and adjustments to a changed reality.

Monday April 16thVenus opposes (180 deg, tense) Jupiter retro and in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Pluto accounts for a relatively smooth transition of power. The Moon transits to a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Ceres in Leo, eliciting the transforming power of Ceres, who mourns for her lost child to the underworld Pluto, to a trine aspect to Saturn in Capricorn as legal rulings are applied.  Power is exerted and transforming positions are accomplished as the Sun begins the transit of Uranus in Aries.

Tuesday April 17thChiron in Aries today as the Moon in Taurus is in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Mars in Capricorn (earth signs) combining personal needs and authority. Avoid crisis by planning ahead and filing your tax returns in time. Last minute glitches may be repaired. The Moon moves on to oppose (180 deg, tense) Jupiter in Scorpio and conjunct (0 deg, or close) to Venus in Taurus for more pleasure and release from worry. The Moon trine to Pluto affects the general population as the transition is accepted and arrangements are more satisfactory to the majority.
