Prior to the Full Moon on December 22nd, unexpected events of the week are highlighted by media reports. The final degrees of Sun in Sagittarius are trine to Uranus retro in Aries, as action of an impulsive or unprecedented nature take advantage of this final fire sign aspect before the Sun moves into the more focused arena of Capricorn, on the 21st, the winter solstice. At the solstice, Mercury and Jupiter are in a conjunction aspect in Sagittarius, while the Moon is in an opposition aspect from Gemini, and conjunct the midpoint of Mercury–Jupiter and the Sun’s position at 0 deg Capricorn. With Mercury enhanced by Jupiter, we may gain a more comprehensive picture of the philosophical message we portray as a nation, and as a democratic society. The solstice represents an important annual event in the ancient calendar, as a quarter phase of the Earth’s annual journey around the Sun. Events now are indication of the following 3-month phase before the spring equinox. The Full Moon event that follows as we come to terms with issues and predict the outcomes for the following quarter phase or indeed the entire year of 2010.
Summary of Major Aspects of the Week
Friday December 21st – The Moon in Gemini is in an opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to the Jupiter – Mercury conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) in Sagittarius early in the day. The attempt to understand the pace of cascading events is challenging. Alternative analysis leads to an alternative set of facts. The anchoring of a political argument depends on a philosophical viewpoint. Legal arguments are possibly reinterpreted to represent a socio-political viewpoint rather than the factual analysis of a situation. Venus in Scorpio is trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Neptune in Pisces today, as more compassionate responses can be found. The Moon in Gemini is in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Neptune as shifting policy results in action. The Sun moves into Capricorn at the solstice point of 0 deg Capricorn.
Saturday December 22nd – The Full Moon aspect today brings a fulfillment of the social issues that relate to home and family (Moon in Cancer), authority and parental (Sun in Capricorn) concerns. The winter season brings harsher weather in the northern hemisphere, although summer doldrums in the southern hemisphere. While stronger rules and regulations are put into place for many organizations (the Sun along with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn) a more tolerant attitude allows for a reduction of imprisonment terms, as former convictions are reviewed under prison reform (Chiron, Mars and Neptune in Pisces) rules. Mars in Pisces is clearing out draconian measures even as Saturn in Capricorn imposes stronger standards for government and other institutions.
Sunday December 23rd – The Moon in Cancer is in an opposition aspect (180 deg, polarizing) to Saturn in Cap early in the day. As both the Moon and Saturn are in the sign of rulership, the conflict that is evoked could be challenging, and possibly concerning traditional parental roles and obligations. The Moon progresses to a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) with Neptune in Pisces and a short time later to Venus in Scorpio. A grand trine is thus possible for people with water sign planets, especially in the 2nd decant (10-19 deg) of the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces). The effect of the grand trine is ease of movement, and in water signs expressing with emotional content is facilitated. The Moon with an opposition aspect to Pluto later in the day produces more tense actions as increased security is advised.
Monday December 24th – The Moon in Cancer is in a square aspect (90 deg, sharp) to Uranus in Aries, this cardinal sign aspect could trigger events that are unexpected and possibly deadly. The conjunction of the Moon and the north lunar node (Rahu) very early in the day is also a sign of aggressive and mindless actions. Mercury in Sagittarius is in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Neptune in Pisces, as radical influences may erupt in violent actions. The Moon ingress to Leo in the afternoon for enjoyment and merrymaking of the season
Tuesday December 25th – Venus in Scorpio is in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) to Ceres as children are given special care and compensation. They can come out of hiding now. The Moon in Leo forms several major aspects today, with an intriguing quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Neptune in Pisces, followed by a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Mercury in Sag, then a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Venus in Scorpio. This might add zest to your day, or simply be the last straw or the pang of disappointment. Whatever the event, be sure to be supportive of friends and family. The following day, with a quincunx aspect to Mars in Pisces from the Moon could indicate a painful recovery.
