As the secular year comes to a close, we tend to review the achievements and failures in an annual ritual of noting the best and the worst. However, I will leave that to the individual and not take time for a general wrap-up of celestial events. Let us suffice to say that it was a year of extremes in many segments and life events for planet Earth. This year there was a continuation of the transit of Uranus through Aries that will finally egress Aries and ingress Taurus for a long stay beginning March 6th, 2019. One striking feature that I will mention is that Mars moves into Aries on January 1st. This direct-action Mars will leave the watery yin sign of Pisces, to its domicile in Aries. This should be an invigorating influence to kick off the new year.
Summary of Major Aspects of the Week
Wednesday December 26th – The Moon in Leo forms a quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Chiron and Mars in Pisces today. This could be charming for social gatherings, although the Moon in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Uranus in Aries could bring some more vibrant issues to the fore. As Mars is the dispositor of Uranus in Aries, there is a suspicious connection between the contacts and venues in this paradigm. Jupiter and Saturn are 30 deg apart, a semi-sextile aspect, and they will travel together for about two weeks. Although a weaker aspect involving these diverse planets, they test and modify one another along the way. Jupiter in Sag and Saturn in Cap are both of elevated influence as they rule the signs they are traversing. They are both final dispositors of the chart. The semi-sextile aspect represents a slight nudge while the nature of the two planets are conflicting. The outcome could be Jupiter (Congress) and Saturn (Executive) coming to a compromise agreement neither is quite comfortable with. The Moon moves into Virgo in the afternoon as we turn our attention to practical matters.
Thursday December 27th – The Moon in Virgo is in a trine aspect to the cardinal earth sign Capricorn. Virgo is the social oriented earth sign and mutable in modality. This placement is essential to recovery, as we are working to overcome deep emotional-psychological problems, symbolized by Neptune in Pisces. As the Moon reflects Neptune in Pisces, there opens a shaft or ray of nervous energy. The trine aspect (150 deg, easy) to the Sun in Capricorn is a calming influence as order and methodology are created with the Moon-Sun trine aspect. With a wide spectrum allowed with Jupiter and Mercury in Sagittarius, a T-square configuration forms with square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to the Moon in Virgo and the opposing Neptune in Pisces. While the Pandora’s Box is open, repair work can be done. Venus in Scorpio is approaching a sextile aspect to Pluto in Cap, a modifying influence that could add perspective and depth to inquiries, as justice is sought.
Friday December 28th – The Moon continues to get the wheels turning with a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Pluto in Capricorn, simultaneously a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Mercury in Sagittarius and sextile aspect (60 deg, friendly) to Venus in Scorpio indicates a push for resolution of underlying issues of great importance. With political overtones, indictments could follow as the Moon opposes (180 deg, opposition) to Mars in Pisces later in the day.
Saturday December 29th – The Moon ingress to Libra early in the day, and a square aspect 990 deg, harsh) to the Sun for the 1st quarter Moon phase, signifies a possible crisis in development. Legal issues are likely to be rebutted and deliberated. With the close Venus to Pluto sextile (60 deg, friendly) aspect and Jupiter–Saturn in a two weeks-long semi-sextile (30 deg, irrational), Mars approaches a semi-sextile to Uranus retro in Aries. Jupiter and Saturn indicate energy spheres that may have similar goals while conflicting in process, while Mars and Uranus are more similar in process. Uranus and Mars now may be working to dissolve rather than disrupt as Mars in Pisces is the dipositor of Uranus in Aries. As a legal stance becomes clearer, the goal could be to disperse rather than destroy. The Ceres – Venus conjunction in Scorpio adds a concern for cultural continuity.
Sunday December 30th – The Sun in in Capricorn is now in a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Uranus retro in Aries. With Chiron and Mars conjunction in Pisces more guidance can be anticipated through revelations of process and legal issues that surround powerful figures. As the Moon is square aspect to Pluto, the crisis increases in magnitude. The Moon also is in a sextile aspect (60 deg, friendly) to Mercury in Sagittarius for a ready political spin on developments. Later in the day, the Moon is in an opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to Uranus retro in Aries. This could elicit powerful reactions that overwhelm the status quo.
Monday December 31st– The Moon enters the sign of Scorpio today, a peaceful morning with much anticipation. A quincunx aspect (150 deg, complelx) to Mars prompts inquires. The atmosphere becomes charged, a celebration of the new year. By mid-day the Moon is in a sextile aspect (60 deg, friendly) to the Sun- Saturn conjunction (0 deg aspect)in Capricorn, as tradition attracts crowds for celebrations.
Tuesday January 1st – The Moon trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Neptune evoking nostalgia with painful as well as good memories. The Moon transits (0 deg aspect) Ceres, as increased awareness for future benefits to younger generations is expressed. Venus semi-sextile (30 deg, friendly) to Mercury in Sag and Jupiter semi-sextile (30 deg, irritable) to Saturn in Capricorn help integrate the day with fine tuning. Mars ingress to Aries later in the day, as the New Year opens offering new hope and the possibility of achieving new goals. Resolutions are in order. The Sun in a conjunction with Saturn in Capricorn highlights the government constraint, while the Moon transit of Venus and Ceres in Scorpio provides protection for workers and young.
