Keeping feet on the ground becomes more difficult this week, as Mercury in Aquarius turns retrograde on the 14th while square aspect to Uranus retro in Taurus, and the Sun transits to the conjunction aspect with Pluto. Uranus returns to direct transit on the 18th, the Sun ingress to Aquarius on the 19th. Both Mercury and Venus are retrograde until January 30th, when Venus returns to direct transit. With the Omicron variant of Covid-19 peaking this month, personal self-awareness and health issues become unavoidable.
Summary of Major Aspects of the Week
Wednesday January 12th — The Moon in Taurus is trine aspect to the Sun in Capricorn early today, while Mercury in Aquarius is square aspect to Uranus in Taurus. The economic situation takes a hit, although personal adjustments are able to ward off the worst. A trine aspect to Pluto from the Moon follows, splintering the effect of an economic whirlwind. Benefits reaped may be consumed as rapidly as they appear. Reinstating energy efficient laws and guidelines for manufacturing, a goal of the Biden administration, may take decades to produce results. Uranus in Taurus, turning in a direct transit motion (apparent motion) through the zodiac represents a turn-about in energy use as more efficient use rules are implemented. Mercury in Aquarius a media slant to technology, featuring detailed analysis of energy laws that will help to reverse wasteful practices or more efficient use of energy.
Thursday January 13th — Mercury in Aquarius is square aspect to Uranus (still retrograde) in Taurus. This aspect involves two signs of fixed modality (Taurus and Aquarius), and is quite explosive due to the relatively inert nature of the fixed signs and the harsh square aspect that produces conflict. Mercury in an air sign expresses easily in speech or media. Innovative ideas are needed in the field of energy conservation to reduce toxic emissions, and in the health field to prevent spread and severity of disease. The Moon in Gemini highlights the expression of ideas and in a trine aspect to Mercury, the dispositor of the Moon, in Aquarius, the communication has a profound effect. The Moon transits to the trine aspect to Saturn 5-6 hours later, as the communication has deep implications. Saturn is the dispositor of the Sun, Venus retro and Pluto in Capricorn. The communication is weighted, the consequences are clear.
Friday January 14th — The Moon in Gemini is quincunx aspect to Venus retro in Capricorn predawn EST, an indication that critiques are unsympathetic, or prompting counter initiatives. A square aspect to Neptune is followed by the opposition aspect of the Moon to Mars in Sagittarius, forming a mutable T-square configuration. A measure of flexibility is inherent in the mutable signs, and with Neptune at the focal point, dissolution could result. The T-square extends over several hours, late morning and afternoon time zones in the western hemisphere. On one level, that of a higher sensitivity, so inspired actions may result. On the other hand, manipulative actions, some involving criminal activity could also result. Late in the day, as the Moon transits to the quincunx aspects to Sun and Pluto in Capricorn, with the Sun approaching the conjunction aspect with Pluto, efforts could serve to transform the situation or deepen the divide, depending on the intent of the actors/agents involved. Mercury turning retrograde indicates a shift in rhetoric.
Saturday January 15th — The Moon ingress to Cancer early today and makes a trine aspect to Jupiter in Pisces, depending on location, in the afternoon hours, for moments of spiritual communion. The Sun reaches the conjunction aspect with Pluto, effective over approximately 3 days, indicating a possible break-through in international negotiations. A retrograde Mercury in Aquarius prompts a back-tracking of demands, a revision of world-view of participants. Jupiter in Pisces is the dispositor of Mars in Sagittarius. Landmark decisions by US Supreme Court are also likely today.
Sunday January 16th — The Moon in Cancer is quincunx aspect to Mercury retro in Aquarius early today, with the quincunx aspect to Saturn in Aquarius later in the day. Mercury separates from the square aspect to Uranus, as negotiations backtrack to make revisions. While open conflict has been avoided, details need to be worked out. The Moon transits to the opposition aspect to Mars in Sagittarius while in the quincunx aspect to Saturn is in effective orb. Caution is applied to avoid fresh injury. Disciplinary action could be applied.
Monday January 17th — The Moon in Cancer is trine aspect to Neptune in Pisces, in compassionate water signs. The harsher quincunx aspect to Mars in Sagittarius forms, as individuals (represented by the Moon) react to the announced change in laws. Venus retro in Capricorn is semi-sextile aspect to Saturn, its dispositor, giving credence to decisions in tradition. The Sun supersedes the conjunction aspect with Pluto in Capricorn, moving beyond the moment of decision. The Moon ingress to Leo occurs overnight.
Tuesday January 18th — The Moon in Leo is trine aspect to Chiron in Aries and also in an opposition aspect to Mercury retro in Aquarius. Guiding wisdom is offered to the sorrow inflicted, yet victory could be yours. The Moon is also in a square aspect to Uranus in Taurus, as Uranus is in its shadow, moving slowly. Frustrations mount. The Moon transits to the opposition aspect with Saturn hours later, and quincunx aspect to Venus retro in Capricorn. Confronting authorities and/or bureaucracies can be tricky. In such cases, it is best to be well prepared.
Have a great week.
Reminder: While lunar aspects are in effect only for only a few hours, the aspect of the outer planets can last days and weeks. I post a reading for a day in advance in order to give a preview, and also because the aspects may be in effect a day earlier.
