A New Moon Turns to Confront the Virus – July 15-22 2020

The Moon in Taurus sextile aspect to the Sun in Cancer on Wednesday, as the Sun is in opposition aspects to Jupiter and Pluto. The New Moon next Monday is in an opposition aspect to Saturn retrograde. The New Moon represents a starting point of the lunar cycle. The seeds of the cycle, planted during the final phase of the previous cycle, are now given the fuel needed to bring about a new beginning. Cancer, as the sign associated with the home and parentage, is the sign ruled by the Moon.  The Moon is strong here, the feminine or Yin energy for fertility, vital for growing crops for the season.  Vital for nutrition and young people looking toward the future. Cancer is the sign of a nurturing parent. As the nation and the world looks for leadership to combat the virus, leadership, signified by the sign Capricorn is sadly lacking. It is as through the leaders have turned aside in confronting this threat to the health of the people. In many nations, the authorities (Saturn n Capricorn) have disregarded the advice of the health professionals, leaving the virus to accelerate.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday July 15th – The Sun in Cancer is in a partile opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to Pluto retro in Capricorn. Pluto is still in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Jupiter retro, inflating the Pluto effort for total transformation. A cultural revolution could be indicated, although the pandemic is suppressing action. Saturn retro in Capricorn is the dispositor of Jupiter and Pluto and thus has an influence comparable to a conjunction aspect. The Moon in Taurus is trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to the Pluto-Jupiter conjunction and sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to the Sun, indicating measures to protect health are implemented, even as the virus surges. The Moon in a sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to Neptune places the Moon sextile aspect to the Midpoint of a sextile aspect between Neptune and the Pluto-Jupiter conjunction in Cap. This is another indication that the virus is out of control.

Thursday July 16th – As the world staggers under the pandemic, targeted action is needed. Uranus is semi-sextile aspect (30 deg, slightly favorable) to Mars in Aries and the Moon in Gemini indicates that not just talk but action taken could diminish the surge. Manipulating statistics is not a solution. The Moon is sextile aspect (60 deg, friendly) to Mars in Aries, then moves to the conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Venus. Targeted action is well received as life-saving measures are put in place. Lock-down emergency orders could be made.

Friday July 17th – The Moon in Gemini makes a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Neptune in Pisces, and quincunx aspects (150 deg, complex) to the PlutoJupiter pair in Capricorn.  Some efforts to control the spread of the virus begin to show results. At this Balsamic Moon phase, we are focused on the future and what a new cycle will bring. It is now that we can make preparations and plans for the cycle to emerge with the lessons of the past applied.

Saturday July 18th – Emergency measures are prepared as the Moon in Gemini is quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Saturn in Capricorn, hoping to repair damages suffered due to a lack of responsibility and false statements by leaders. The Moon ingress to Cancer where it will form a conjunction aspect to Mercury late in the day. The Moon is in its domain in Cancer. Communication is about health and security. Accepted wisdom rejects the present situation as acceptable with Chiron square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to the Moon.

Sunday July 19th – The Moon in Cancer, Balsamic phase, is in a square aspect (90 deg., harsh) to Mars in Aries. Personal freedoms are under restraints. Illness or the threat of illness as well as a legal restrictions compromise actions. Stay at home order may be made late in the day, as the Moon is in opposition aspects to Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn.  Local officials take control for combating the virus.

New Moon in Cancer
July 20, 2020

Monday July 20th – The New Moon has arrived by mid-day in the US, afternoon hours in Europe and mid-East. Businesses come to a halt in many areas for the second time this year. The New Moon at 17:34 hours GMT, with a partile opposition aspect (180 deg, polarized) to Saturn in Capricorn limits and focuses energy for the efforts to control the virus. We lament our losses with emotional outbursts, but restrictions remain the best way to control the disease. The Moon moves into Leo, as media entertainment could offer relief.

Tuesday July 21st – As the Moon begins its journey around the half of the zodiac that does not have planets this season, beyond the sign Cancer and into the social signs of Leo, Virgo and Libra, aspects are made to the planets singularly. The trine aspects (120 deg, flowing) to Chiron and Mars in Aries, motivate actions while a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Uranus in Taurus indicates that there are severe consequences. Restrictive measures as well as the threat of infections ruin the plans for travel or commerce deemed unnecessary. The Moon makes quincunx aspects (150 deg, complex) to Neptune in Pisces and then to Jupiter and Pluto in Cap, with measures taken that please no one, although most comply for the good of social health.
