The New Moon on December 26 at 4 deg Capricorn is a solar eclipse, with implications for 2 months on either side of this date, sets this year’s end and the end of a decade as a very consequential time. A stellim of 6 planets (including the luminaries and Ceres), bring out the focus on government and institutions that we are dependent on. The US Constitution, as the enshrined source of law in the US, has the power to reverse the presidency, setting up a process for impeachment. That is the most significant event of this lunation and eclipse. The chart of the eclipse is a bowl type with few aspects other than the stellium. It is as time stands still for the holidays, Happy Chanukah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, and hope for a brighter future.
Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday December 25th – The Moon’s conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Mercury in Sagittarius early today, indicates the opportunity to reconsider, perhaps slightly reformat your own views and reconsider your life’s ideals. You might participate in a new group formation around a cause that concerns you (Venus in Aquarius). To be prepared for the new decade, more revolutionary alliances can be brought together with the Moon trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Uranus in the early degrees of Capricorn. With the New Moon-eclipse late in the day or overnight (see chart image above), depending on location, there are more opportunities for joining with like-minded friends for conversation and community planning.
Thursday December 26th – At the Sun conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) to Jupiter, the Moon moves forward with a conjunction aspect to Ketu early in the day, before progressing on to meet with Saturn and Pluto. Very high-level meetings are arranged. On the local level, group participation develops programs and elects leaders. The is a sense of unity in community and family gatherings. The focus is on the future.
Friday December 27th – As the Moon enters the 3rd decan of Capricorn, it is in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Saturn and Pluto, two planets that are symbolic of the era, with Saturn approaching the conjunction aspect with Pluto, only one and a quarter degree from partile. As the Moon passes over this pair of heavies, the qualities of the conjunction are emphasized. Saturn limits in the effort to focus, while Pluto demonstrates the effort to suppress and ultimately transform with an explosiveness that can be quite destructive. The release of damaging information conforms to this scenario. Meanwhile, the Sun in a conjunction aspect with Jupiter in the 1st decan of Capricorn, expands the official responsibility, while Saturn as the dispositor of Jupiter and the Sun is the recipient of the goodwill. These are more noteworthy and powerful due to the lack of competing or distracting aspects. We take time to absorb the implications.
Saturday December 28th – As the after-glow of festivals this week persists, the Moon moves ahead into Aquarius, with a square aspect 990 deg, harsh) to Uranus and then a conjunction aspect to Venus. The juxtapositions of the aspects seem to indicate a sense of relief as the explosive elements reveal vital information that satisfy, imparting a sense of justice (Sun conj Jupiter). Mercury joins the stellium in Cap as the explosive news is generated.
Sunday December 29th – As the Moon transits over central Aquarius, it reaches the midpoint to the Mercury/ Chiron square aspect (90 deg, harsh), and is semi–square aspect (45 deg, sharp) to Mercury and Chiron, as a neutral view that seeks to balance opinion and fact, wisdom and rumor predominates before mid-day. The Sun in a conjunction aspect with Ketu seeks reprieve for the accused.
Monday December 30th – With Mercury trine aspect (120 deg, flowing) to Uranus in earth signs, more documents are analyzed, as tension in the governing arena (Capricorn stellium with Saturn conj Pluto) increases. Mercury is the messenger, while Uranus will elevate thought to a higher level of awareness. The Moon in Aquarius forms a square aspect (120 deg, harsh) to Mars in Scorpio early in the day, likely to be a day of unexpected twists and turns in the drama unfolding. The Moon ingress to Pisces followed by a trine aspect to Mars and sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to Uranus, indicates that a resolution could be achieved soon. Ceres sextile aspect to Neptune occurs as more concerns for environmental decay and global warming while the Moon sextile aspect to Jupiter and the Sun promote action.
Tuesday December 31st – The Moon in Pisces transits to the conjunction aspect with Neptune, and semi–square aspect to Uranus, as more warnings are issued of impending environmental disasters. The plight of the homeless population requires empathy as well as resources to address the possible solutions. Neptune and Pisces are symbolic of the homeless epidemic. At the conclusion of the calendar year, a review of success and failures in addressing humanitarian and environmental issues indicates a need for governments to take action as representatives and leaders of the people of the world.
I pray for a better and happier new year. Thanks for reading this preview of the week ahead.
