A Full Moon Eclipse for Evolutionary Goals – January 31st – February 6 2018

The Full Moon eclipse in Leo is a high point as major events are brought to a close. I am referring here of major events which characterize the historical time and the culture of the day, so this varies from place to place and from country to country.  That which is the most attractive and creative (Leo) is polarized by the advancement of cultural thought and evolution (Aquarius). Certainly we are in an evolutionary phase of culture. Old boundaries are broken down, suffering and anxiety predominate, new and generational goals for personal place and personal advancement if not survival in a new age are taking the place of former cultural standards (Uranus in Aries).

The State of the Union Address is timed for just a few hours before the eclipse in the US. The eclipse degree is 11 and 37 min Longitude in the sign Leo. Ceres, a dwarf planet, is also at 11 degree longitude of Leo at the time of the eclipse. So it will be interesting to see what DJT, who was born under a full Moon eclipse has to say about DACA, a program to protect child immigrants in the US.  Ceres relates to an intergenerational concept of loss and redemption, of annual cycles of seasonal agriculture and health. The plight of women in society should also be a theme that is addressed this year and should be included in the SOTU address. The Full Moon eclipse sets the mood for the remained of the soli-lunar cycle, and even for the next 2-3 months to come.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

January 31 2018
Full Moon Eclipse

Wednesday January 31st – With the Leo Moon in opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to the Sun in Aquarius, pride and self-congratulations may be in conflict with a more detached view of events. This reverberates now when the President is also under scrutiny for recent firings of officials whom he has denounced as disloyal to him. As he aggressively seeks loyalty, the opposite by natural law, will plague him. He is losing his political base. Thus, he struggles to right his ship, (the opposition effect) to carry on and maintain his grasp on office. The trine aspect from transiting Venus to Trump’s natal Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Gemini would allow for a smooth delivery of rather unorthodox policy statements. It’s interesting that generational attitudes are now surfacing. Generational conflicts are stronger than ever. With the DACA program under the President’s glare, as well as other immigration issues such as family reunion issues – another issue involving generations and under the auspices of Ceres in astrology. So Ceres in exact conjunction aspect (0 deg latitude) with the Moon at the eclipse brings out an emphasis of concerns for women and immigrants. Mercury transits into Aquarius today, as the futuristic ideals are initiated.

Thursday February 1st – The Moon is square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Jupiter early in the morning and then is trine (120 deg, easy) to Uranus, as both praise and admonition greet the world. The message is one of expansion of authority and increase in the implementation of the carrot and stick routine.  Mercury sextile (60 deg, helpful) to Mars puts thoughts and action together as we begin the new calendar month. Mars in a semisextile aspect (30 deg, activating) can put limitations on goals, limiting travel or legal immigration. The Moon transit into Virgo aspects both Mars (square aspect 90 deg, harsh) and Saturn (trine aspect 120 deg easy) could also frustrate plans for advancement. Only limited gains can be made now.

Friday February 2nd – The Moon continues in Virgo (the mutable earth sign) today, in opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to Neptune early in the day and also quincunx (150 deg problematic) to the Sun. Distress, lack of emotional support while striving to solve problems of immigration and also maintaining universal ideas could make this a day of exhaustion, physically and emotionally. Personal goals may become a mirage, a fantasy with difficult hurdles to navigate toward any accomplishment.

Saturday February 3rd – The Moon opposes (180 deg, tense) Chiron (an asteroid that thinks it is a planet) today and forms a quincunx aspect (150 deg, problematic) to Uranus. This seems a similar structure to that of the Moon’s relationship to Neptune and the Sun yesterday. Here we may try to draw possible solutions as the situation worsens and emergency action is taken. The unexpected occurrence may provide fortunate pathway finding support from friends, as Mercury in Aquarius is sextile aspect (60 deg, favorable) to Mars in SagVenus is in a square aspect to Jupiter, (90 deg, harsh) when a harsh aspect can be very favorable, bringing unexpected luck and fortune.

Sunday February 4th – The Moon is in Libra today as we seek to hold a balance in relationships or finances. Responsibilities, goals and friendships all are evaluated in the process as aspects to Saturn in Capricorn (square aspect 90 deg, harsh), Mars in Sagittarius (sextile aspect 60 deg, friendly) and to Mercury in Aquarius (trine aspect 120 deg, easy). While every vision cannot be fulfilled at this time, working for long range goals could help resolve many issues. Without compromising ideals (SagittariusAquarius) a firm stand should be made even if the compromise seems attractive.

Monday February 5th – The Moon in Libra is in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to the Sun and Venus today, giving hope for the future, for increase in resources and pleasurable experience. However, the opposition aspect (180, tense) to Uranus in Aries follows with another difficult problem and then the square aspect (90 deg harsh) to Pluto in Capricorn. As through caught in a whip tide, you may see gains diminished.  For this reason you should have worked for the long-range goals.

Tuesday February 6th – The Moon is in Scorpio today, for shared remorse or enjoyment. Shared suffering can be sweeter than prospering on your own. Whatever the cause, you may discover yourself anew, and regenerate your plans for the future. The Moon is also sextile to Saturn (60 deg, working) as strategy and role models lend emotional support. Ceres, the dwarf planet, is in Leo opposed to (180 deg tense struggle) Mercury in Aquarius, as the Moon is at right angles forming a T-square.  Avoiding depressive thoughts, Mercury and Ceres help to lift gloom and/or remorse. Focusing on what is important in life can help to put priorities in perspective. If fate has dealt you a good hand, being mindful of the fate of the downtrodden at this time by acting charitably is the path to your own security.
