A Crisis in Leadership – January 1 – 8, 2020

The Sun in Capricorn, surrounded by four planets and the dwarf planed Ceres, for a show of strength and durability, as the stellium persists with Saturn and Pluto conjunction aspect now less than 1 deg of orb, and the Moon in Pisces, heralding a major change in government effectiveness at the start of 2020. As the decade of the 2010’s was replete with obsessions and conspiracy theories undermined the value of truth, the reversal would reinstate and differentiate what was obscured.  Speaking honestly is not the same as speaking truthfully. Speaking one’s mind does not necessarily equate with objective truth. Saturn is a truth bearer, and will differentiate, while Pluto will transform only after purging the spoiled matter that has accumulated. Together, the planets symbolize the transformation that is taking place, and that will affect the status of government in the weeks and months to come. Next week at the full Moon eclipse, the crisis is resolved.

Summary of Major Aspects of the Week

Wednesday January 1st – Traditionally, we take time today to review the past and hope to improve the year ahead, even making resolutions. We vow to change bad habits for the good, to correct the wrongs and resolve to take a new path for the future. Saturn is the narrow path that Pluto will transform, breaking down barriers that are restrictive could be one result. Ceres progresses toward the SaturnPluto conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) in Capricorn, combining in a conjunction on January 12-13th. A new order seems to be in the making, with a view to the future and future generations. Uranus returns to the direct motion on January 12th following the New Moon eclipse on Jan 10th.  The Moon in Pisces is in a sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to SaturnPluto, as the lessons of the past are instrumental in building the future. Mercury in Capricorn approaches the conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Jupiter as personal views become incorporated in an expanding sense of participation in social reform. The Moon in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Mars helps to focus energy, possibly a reformation for positive goals or for illusionary benefits, then ingress to Aries for more realism, in the here and now. SaturnPluto in a conjunction aspect in the militaristic sign of Capricorn would be the initiating energy represents an interpretation of aggressive action taken.

Thursday January 2ndMercury and Jupiter in Capricorn combine in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) today, as planned initiatives are implemented in legislation as well as of personal goals. The Moon in a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Mars in water signs adds the emotional component, perhaps to end past practices that were ineffective or harmful. As the Moon moves into Aries, new initiatives are set in motion, while the conjunction aspect with Chiron helps to combine the lessons of the past with the vision for future successes. Later in the day, the Moon makes a square aspect (90 deg, harsh) to Mercury and Jupiter, with a critique of the proposals. Saturn approaching the partile (exact) conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) with Pluto in Capricorn (less than one degree of orb), intensifies the conflicting views over leadership roles, as the Moon reaches the square aspect to the Sun.

First-quarter Moon
January 2-3 2020

Friday January 3rd – The first quarter Moon phase overnight brought the crisis to a head. Mars on the cusp of Sagittarius, and trine aspect (120 deg, flowing) to Chiron in Aries could seek to remedy faults of the past with action. Saturn in Capricorn is empowered in its domicile and the dispositor of the planets in Capricorn, as leaders face the test for authenticity.  Leadership in opposition groups, seek to undermine authorities and traditional law, even constitutional law, for greater influence.

Saturday January 4th – The Moon in Aries makes square aspects (90 deg, harsh) to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, as internal managerial conflicts are exposed.  This could be at the highest level of any organization. There could be a shake-up or simply threats of removal from office. Concerns are growing about the viability of leadership. Mars in Sadge and a trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Chiron in Aries is an indication for the desirability of authenticity in government office. The Moon ingress to Taurus as security concerns are addressed.

Sunday January 5th – The Moon transits Uranus in Taurus early today, and overnight influence in the eastern hemisphere, and Mars is in a quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Uranus, indicating that there could be a sudden takeover, a revolutionary action, based on ideology. The legitimacy of the action, with Mars in Sadge and trine aspect (120 deg, easy) to Chiron, depends on one’s view, especially through the lens of religious or political orientation.

Monday January 6th -The Moon in Taurus forms trine aspects (120 deg, flowing) to Mercury and the Sun in earth signs, with a plea for calm.  Mars remains in a quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Uranus from Sadge to Taurus, as radical actions continue. Jupiter in a conjunction aspect (0 deg, combining) to Ketu reflects the futility of legislative actions. We reach the depth of the conflict in government, as more information is revealed about the scandals that are afflicting leadership. Administrative ability is challenged, with conflicts of interest, as Saturn approaches the conjunction aspect with Pluto with less than half a degree of separation, while the Moon is trine aspect to the pair, as claims for immunity or safe passage prevail.

Tuesday January 7th – The Moon ingress to Gemini with an opposition aspect (180 deg, tense) to Mars in Sagittarius indicates that a dialogue is initiated between the conflicting factions. Flexibility is demonstrated, the possibility of reaching agreement, while there could be threats made to force a desirable conclusion to the stand-off with Mars in a quincunx aspect (150 deg, complex) to Uranus.  The Sun in a sextile aspect (60 deg, helpful) to Neptune in Pisces indicates that adjustments allow for face saving measures that lead to a compromise.
